After reviewing quote few of Acer laptops, some have requested on this newer model under 4736 series. There are two specs for it, such as 4736 with Core 2 Duo and 4736z with Intel Dual Core processor. The rest of the specs are pretty the same with 1 GB DDR3 RAM, 250 GB HDD and DVD-RW DL and all the other basic features.
Size wise, it is 14.0″ and not 14.1″, so you shall expect 16:9 view, which is amazing, and I kinda like it much better than the normal 14.1″. Comparing with 4730 and 4935 series, this series has side panel which is consists of plenty small buttons with LEDs. Its pretty easy to access and simple enough.
The picture I took is from the Acer Aspire 4736 the Intel Core 2 Duo version.
And as usual, Core 2 Duo processors came with Centrino’s logo and its still the old sticker. I have seen some with new Intel stickers which are way more amazing.
And in this series, the new features added in is the multi finger gestures on the trackpad. Have not tried it up though. As its up to lesser need in term of my usage.
This 4736 series also features Dolby Home Theater Speaker, but not that loud though as per normal laptop standard. And the power LED is nice. Notice the one blue line to the left of the power button? That is the charging indicator. When you plugged in the charger, it will be lighted up.
And now you have a button to disable the trackpad without having to go through all the control panels options. 🙂 Easier for those who uses mice instead of the trackpad as when typing while the trackpad is on, it will be distractive.
What’s special again? Its the “PowerSmart” energy saving feature that can be activated or deactivated by a single touch on the button.
The Acer’s logo is just simple without any LEDs.
By the left, exists two USB ports, HDMI port.. yeahh HDMI ready now, and the SPDIF, headset and microphone jack.
Another unique design exists on the LCD lever, with blue supposed to be LEDs surrounding a metal circle. Its not LED though, just a simple plastic for more varieties.
A shot showing the notebook Lid, which I didn’t take off the plastic covering due to the laptop still for sales. 😛 But I will reveal what’s beneath the plastic covering later on below.
A whole front view with Apple’s Mighty mouse to show the actual size and look of the notebook.
And there is Aspire 4736 word written at the corner right of the keyboard. Notice the details on the casing. It is nice and simple.
Here is the specifications for Acer Aspire 4736 which I had
And the Acer Aspire 4736Z with Dual Core processors
For Intel Dual Core powered there lays the Intel Pentium Inside sticker…
Now for the first time, I will show you the back showing the fan. So, it is always better to level up the laptop when used for longtime for better ventilation. As it will gets pretty hot after usage of more than 5 hours on charge.
And finally, here is what promised earlier, how the notebook lit looks like. Its shiningly blue beneath.
Overall, this can be a really simple looking notebook with simple specifications without reducing any standards, especially with the availability of DDR3 RAMs. For the Aspire 4736Z, the HDD can varies though, some series has 250 GB HDD, some only features 160 GB HDD.
Although some people might not like this simple look, from my personal experience, it should be great enough. And the prices drops a lot lately. Which is bad for my old stock. So, its all pretty depends on one’s taste on selectivity, be it the design, or the specs. If you only need simple look with basic specs with slightly new improvement, this is the notebook you are looking at. Otherwise, if you need better performance, better design with touch sensitive buttons like in Aspire 4935 and 4937, then this one is not your cup of tea. 🙂
