Being a reseller myself, I will have more chances to review products that I sold, and soon I will add on more on the quality products, like more iCute casing, more speakers, and many more. This time around, having two different level of laptops from Acer with me, allows me to give it a comparison.
Comparison is what customers like the most when choosing which to get. I like to have at least two different types of same category gadgets and have the customer choose them based on their preference and budget. 🙂
Acer 4730 and 4930 are both different level of laptops but they are similar in the case design. Acer 4730 is the Intel Core Duo (Dual Core) series laptop, while 4930 came with Intel Core 2 Duo processor (this applies only to the laptops used in this review, there might be AMDs processors in 4930 or 4730 as well).
So, apart from their processors differences, what they have more in comparison? Lets go further about each of them.
Acer Aspire 4730 is alocated as the standard laptop for people who need a laptop but has low budget, and does not sacrifice much on performance. So, it is actually pretty fine for the standard need. Packed with Intel Core Duo processor, 1 GB of DDR2 RAM, 160 GB HDD, Windows XP/Vista depending on your choice, Wireless a/b/g/n, Gigabit LAN, Modem, Acer CrystalBrite Webcam, and Card reader. This actually brings almost everything for you in such economical machine.
But… but… there is one thing that Acer likes to do to their standard machines. They will exclude Bluetooth in the list of items. So, you won’t be having bluetooth in this 4730 machine.
With that limitation, came the more advanced machine the Acer Aspire 4930 which packed with Intel Core 2 Duo processor with the latest Centrino 2 technology that also features Gigabit LAN, Wireless a/b/g/n functionality, Crystalbrite Webcam, and of course a Bluetooth functionality. This is then makes it a complete one (provided you don’t take into count the HSDPA/3G Modem).
Being more advanced, the Aspire 4930 is designed slightly better by having Blue LEDs all over the lightings, and additional Lighting on the “Acer” logo at the cover of the laptop.
Frankly speaking, I kinda dislike Acer’s design since my college time. Only lately with the appearance of Acer Aspire One, and their newly redesigned Acer Aspire 4730, 4930, 2930 series, it does give some impressions on their improvement. But still, if you compare a Compaq CQ20 or CQ40 along their side, you eyes will shift over to Compaq for their design. 😛 And if you bring a new Macbook to another side, the eyes will shift to Macbook again for sure. 🙂 What can we say. Its hard to choose if we have lots to compare from. 😛
Anyway, just some ideas to share with you all just in case you are looking for certain laptops or confused on which to get. Cheers…
